Vice President, Operations

Description Our client is one of the world's leaders in customized solutions in the specialty steel long products business. Operating across 30 countries and five continents, the company truly has a global reach.   The company operates seven long products specialty steel processing centers in the U.S. along with a processing center in Canada. These processing centers' feeder mills are all owned by the company as well. Additionally, they provide in-house metallurgical laboratory capabilities.   The company is known for its stainless steels, acid and heat resistant steels, tool steels, high grade structural steels, bright steel and special products such as various alloys and metal powders. Processing includes stainless coil to bar drawing, bar line marking, vacuum heat treatment and tempering, custom saw cutting, plate grinding and machining.   The Position: The Vice President, Operations will report directly to the company President/Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for leading and overseeing the operations in the USA and Canadian service centers. He/She will have nine direct reports (plant managers) and one safety/quality manager. The Vice President, Operations will be domiciled in the company's corporate headquarters in the Chicago Area. He/She will be expected to travel regularly to the outlying plants at least twice a year, with once a quarter trips to Canada.   Responsibilities: The Vice President, Operations' responsibilities include:   Ensure compliance with Group Policies, defined targets and OSHA/OHSA Oversee processing functions to ensure compliance with PPI objectives Ensure plants remain organized, clean, efficient, productive and safe Manage key expense categories: Personnel, Transportation and R&M Oversee QMS and Technical Department Lead and oversee planning and implementation of plant equipment investments Oversee Preventative Maintenance Program Ensure inventory is received, stored, processed and returned according to established company guidelines Special projects as needed (e.g. lease renewals, union negotiations, technology upgrades, etc.)   Qualifications: We are seeking a professional with the following attributes and qualifications:   Education, Skills and Experience   At least a Bachelor of Business or Engineering degree Proficient in SAP PP modules At least 10 years of an operational leadership role in processing and distribution and/or custom manufacturing (metals or metals using industries required) Strong working knowledge of light metalworking equipment Experience with developing equipment investment plans and proposals Experience with lease and capital equipment contract negotiations Experience with labor contract negotiations   Key Characteristics:   Effective leader with a "hands-on" approach Safety focus Customer focused "Outside the box," creative thinker Metrics driven

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
